Mindy and I were so happy that Eleni chose Ever After Visuals, a mother-daughter wedding photography team specializing in wedding photojournalism to capture the amazing moments on her special day.
It was a regular day like any other . . . and on many days previous to this one, Subir had mulled the same question over and over in his mind.
Why can’t I meet her?….the thought came across Subir’s mind as it had 100 times before…
I know the one for me is out there…somewhere. Success and fulfillment had found it’s way into his life, but in this area of his life, the spot reserved for “the one” was empty…and his patience was growing thin.
And so it was that on that particular Friday, he made that fateful decision to stroll down to the basement gym in his apartment building and use his favorite bike…with his towel over his shoulder, Subir walked into the gym and experienced mild annoyance to find his favorite bike was occupied.
You see, today was not a regular day like any other. Today was different . . . very different. The bike that he used, HIS bike, was occupied and being the practical person that he was, he used the bike next to her. The fact that she looked up at him through long dark eyelashes over big, brown eyes that lit up when he entered…well, that was definitely a bonus. We are sure that Eleni being amazingly smart, a doctor, too; genuine, amazing and gorgeous from head to toe had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that a conversation was started, one that felt real, and warm. Numbers were exchanged. Lives were changed.
That day unlike any other led finally to these two wedding days like any other, for a unique relationship was started. December 30th and 31st the beginning of the first day of their new family for Eleni and Subir. For those of us that were privileged to share this day, it’s easy to see how happy these two will be for years to come.
The wedding was a unique combination of Indian traditions and Greek customs. The Indian ceremony was the night before the Greek Wedding and each were spectacular and unique in their own right.
We found the Indian Ceremony absolutely beautiful! Vibrant hues of red and gold, flowers, like the love of their friends and family, filled the room and smiles were everywhere! Particularly poignant was the part of the ceremony where the family surrounded the new couple, showering them with rose petals, encircling them with happiness. It was a joyous occasion indeed.
The next day was the Greek ceremony which was full of life, fun and joy. Eleni’s dress was absolutely perfect in the manner that only a Greek princess from an ancient time could be! With flowing layers of silk, champagne white, and just enough bling to set it apart — oh, and don’t forget our favorite, a long cathedral veil. Everything from the bridesmaids dresses to the reception looked like a ‘million bucks’!
We also loved the fact that everyone’s family made a special effort to be at this once in a lifetime occasion. It was a true combination of two families, joyous bonds that can never be broken. And although many of the guests came from different backgrounds, by the end of the night, everyone was together, celebrating the joining of these two families, who as Subir so eloquently stated during the speech he gave, are cut from the same cloth. Strong, loving, joyous and full of love — this is the love that is shared between Eleni and Subir.
A day of new beginnings, New Year’s started off the right way, as Subir wrapped Eleni first in a warm embrace, as if to say without words, finally, here is the one; after which he kissed Eleni for the first time in 2011 as man and wife . The music faded away, the smiles contagious, as time seemed to stop and then the world swirled around them as friends and family congratulated each other and celebrated.
And although I could go on and on about how beautiful everything looked, the most important things are what were being felt — and these are the moments we took pleasure in capturing.
We will let the images and the slideshow montage tell the story … so here they are!
