Petworth United Methodist Church has a long history — one that is dear to Katie, as her grandfather was the first pastor of this church over 100 years ago! So what better place to start their family by being united in marriage than this historic location. We think it was a really historic and beautiful location for a wedding.
We love the other traditions that Katie and Rhys carried forward, too — the sixpence in her shoe came from Judy, and to Judy from her mother. Tears of joy were seen at the ceremony as Katie and Rhys said their I do’s.
Soon it was off to the Top of the Town in Arlington, Virginia, for the reception, where some serious celebrating was done! And what a beautiful night it was. The sky was so clear — the perfect night to see for miles over the beautiful Washington, D.C. skyline. Inside everything was just as beautiful — the cake continued the theme with red roses, as did the centerpieces.
Everything went off without a hitch — hats off to Vicky Choy of Event Accomplished who did an awesome job dotting all the i’s and crossing all the t’s — weddings, after all, are all about the details.
The night was finished off with a bang as the last song “My Sharona” just made everyone get their groove on one last time — and then it was out the door with a “Tasty Cake” favor in hand — we thought that was just the cutest idea!
Katie and Rhys, we know that you are going to have a love that lasts, come rain or come shine!
