Big win in the 2007 NOVA Juried Photography Student Show

Each year, the NVCC Photography program at  Alexandria sponsors  a juried show of work created in the past year by any student.  The work included in the final exhibit is selected by an outside Juror who is anonymous until the opening reception.  The work entered represents commercial,  fine art and photojournalism aspects of photography.

While  taking a photoshop course at NOVA, our local community college, at the urging of our teacher, Sarah Raymond,  I decided to   enter the juried photography show.    There were  188 pieces entered.

I was  SO excited to get the phone call while in Vegas, not only  that three of prints placed in the show, but that I received one of nine cash prizes  awarded  for work to be used on the printed announcements for next year’s show!

Here are the prints that placed in the show!!

It feels weird to comment onyour ownwork — right up until the week before,Icouldn’t decide what to enter! But it feels good to win in the first competition ever entered!
